I downloaded iTunes 8 last night in order to try out Genius. It sounds like Pandora but without licencing issues.. Great! Not sure about the privacy policy, but that’s for another day.

However in order to even turn on Genius you have to sign into your iTunes account, which isn’t such a big issue, but then it appears that you have to provide credit card details too.. It seems I’m not going to try it after all. There’s no way I’m giving my credit card details unless I am actually buying something. Unfortunately for apple it seems they’ve got it backwards. Without being able to use Genius it’s unlikely I’ll ever buy anything from iTunes.

Nevermind. As the only music discovery site I am aware of that works in not-USA, I quite like the61. Suggestions welcome for any others!
