I have broadband. Now what?!

Hmm. After exactly a year without broadband I have got myself reconnected.

Unfortunately I don’t know what to do with it now! I’ve spend a year connecting via my mobile in a 2G area: Think 56 Kbps modem, occasionally peaking at 5.9 KB / second, though most of the time getting less than 1. I get better connectivity on the (above ground part of the) underground and on the M6.

So now everything I’ve got used to doing at home can be done in ten minutes rather than more than an hour, I found myself just sitting there last night thinking, “what did I actually used to do on the internet?”. I checked out youtube: how do people spend so much time there?  I headed over to facebook to see what’s changed: I remembered the original reason I never really used it. I flicked up Front Row and started watching film trailers: That’s actually quite entertaining. However, there must be more!

Is instant messaging still used? I prefer the phone!

Are there any decent (legal) music and film download sites yet?

What do you do on your broadband?!

Answers on a postcard or in the comments!

Cheers

    1. Watch iPlayer
    2. Play more Java games
    3. Read Cracked
    4. Watch videos on drivers-republic.com
    5. Search for free software that’s good enough to replace any commercial software I find really useful

YouTube is a great place to learn about anything – seriously: if you can think of it; there’re videos about it – I found it a great place to research bits for my PC and I am currently watching various NLP videos!

I download the occasional movie/tv show, all legally *nudge nudge* Not having terrestrial TV over here, I’ve not got much else to watch!

Other than that, I still use facebook, and there’s also Skype, much cheaper than the phone!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention online games! There’s little as relaxing after a hard day’s work than getting home and knifing/shooting/exploding a few noobs online :)
