As some of you may or may not know, I broke my arm pretty much in half back on the 30th of March this year in a rugby accident. It's been a long road to recovery and I recently got the news that the metalwork they had put in to stabilise the break back in June has failed, quite catastrophically.

In order to keep a record (as well as keep myself sane), I have decided to backdate everything that happened thus far on a seperate blog and I'm currently in the process of writing up the posts.

For now, I've got an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow to discuss what to do about the buggered metal in my arm and to formulate some plan of action. I leave you with a link: Never Fracture Your Humerus and a picture:
Sarah and Esther have been hired to assist with the launch of BingoCams in the UK. With the concept originally trialled in mainland Europe, and following its successes in places like Holland, BingoCams has been preparing for launch in the UK since late last year, and has now finally gone live.

The concept is pretty simple... sit and play online bingo, wait until you win, and then celebrate like mad over webcam to everyone you just beat. Here's an example, but trust me, from the other videos I've seen, some people go absolutely mental!

With the exception of 2005 (when Google released a logo for Korean Independence Day) the big G have celebrated St David's Day with a daffodil/leek/dragon inspired logo since 2004... and this year is no different with a Google logo themed on Welsh National Dress.

The patron saint of Wales' day is usually celebrated with a big bowl of Cawl (veg and meat soup, usually and traditionally made with a bunch of leeks and some lamb) whilst donning a daffodil or two, and perhaps with a leek sticking out of one's pocket, so Dydd G?yl Dewi Sant one and all.

Whatever your views are on morality of working within the iGaming industry, there are a lot of people in my line of work who have hearts of absolute gold! Two of my closest and best friends in this crazy world in which I work are also my business partners, Sarah and Esther. They know this industry inside out and one of their latest endeavours is something which cannot go unannounced!

They were presented with a concept by a casino operator for the next conference which shied away from the standard "throw a huge party and get a load of people drunk" theme, and all in all, something far more benevolent. They loved the idea and have been working hard to start planning the event for the end of May.

Fairway Casino is sponsoring a charity golf tournament to be held at the famous K Club golf course, just outside Dublin on the Monday prior to the iGaming Supershow in aid of the Children First Foundation who help disadvantaged families throughout Ireland... talk about giving back! The location is nothing to be sniffed at either, original designed by Arnold Palmer - opening for play in 1991- and best known for having hosted the 2006 Ryder Cup.

There are poker products aplenty out there, all have their pros and cons and all are, within reason, relatively similar in their offering.

Real Deal Poker is the only poker software developer at the moment, which has shied away from RNGs (Random Number Generators) and has developed a platform that actually involves real decks of cards being shuffled (though be it by machines) in order to create a matrix of permutations, from which their poker platform pulls a deck. From my conversations with Gene Gioia the system works something akin to the following:

A deck of cards (with barcodes) is shuffled by machine

The order of the cards following the shuffle is recorded and placed in a matrix

When this particular "deck" is pulled by the poker client, a player (here's the random element) gets to cut the deck at a random position

The cards are then dealt in order from that position, to create the rest of the gameplay

The client itself isn't much different from any of the others that are readily available, with the exception of the burn pot. The dealer shows a burn card being placed to the side of the deck before each phase of play, just like in a real game... which begs the question, why do we never see a burn stack on any other software platform?

The guys over at Real Deal quoted a piece of research which stated that a large percentage (up to 30%!) of players interviewed at land based poker games state trust issues regarding RNGs as their primary reason for not playing online. By eliminating that hurdle, RDP are inviting a target market which would vastly supersede the current number of online poker players, to join the online poker world!

There is a great vid (albeit a little long) of Gene demoing his platform below, and for any of you wanting to see it in action, hope over to www.realdealpoker.com, take a look, and enjoy some free bucks on me:

WordPress App for Android - Thoughts

Android's WordPress App may be light on the features, dull and not overly exciting, but it does the job. Quite how well it does the job will only be truly apparent after I hit the publish button at the end of this post!

WordPress App for Android - What's missing?

Straight away, we notice the lack of 1 touch buttons to insert H2 tags, most of the nice plugin functionality for SEO stuff and no functionality to upload media from the phone into the post. Makes live blogging a bit of a chore! Still, it's getting there!
